As Director of Investments at Matthias Private Wealth, Justin Ellsesser leads the firm’s portfolio construction, securities selection, and overall investment strategy. He partners closely with each client’s relationship manager and the broader MPW team to ensure portfolios are customized to reflect individual goals, risk tolerance, private real estate or business holdings, and long-term aspirations. With a passion for translating complex investment opportunities into tailored solutions, Justin brings a client-first mindset to every aspect of his work.
Justin has over 15 years of experience in the investment industry, with a career spanning institutional, family office, and advisory roles. Prior to joining Matthias, he led the private equity and multi-asset hedge fund research team at Mariner Institutional, where he advised clients with portfolios ranging from $100 million to $20 billion. Previously, he served as an Investment Officer at a Midwest public pension fund, managing a $8+ billion portfolio across asset classes alongside a small team. Earlier in his career, he held investment roles at a Washington, D.C.–based family office and began his professional journey as an equity and derivatives trader at Silver Leaf Partners in Baltimore, MD.
Justin currently holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations.
Outside the office, Justin enjoys golf, Formula 1, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Philadelphia Eagles. He lives in Orlando’s Baldwin Park neighborhood with his wife, Vicky, and their dog, Charlie.
